A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Mr. Val Nnadozie has described his purported suspension from the party as an exercise in futility.
Nnadozie told Journalists on Sunday that Nwoye should face fraud a?llegations hanging on his neck.
While dismissing the said suspension with a wave of the hand, Nnadozie, a former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, said? “I learnt of the suspension from journalists who have called to ask; I have not been given any letter.
He said, “All I know is that some party members in the Enugu East APC wrote petition against the State Chairman, Ben Nwoye.
“So, Nwoye is supposed to clear himslef of these allegations, which bordered on alleged diversion of N4m meant for voters’ registration and collecting money from the Enugu State Government.
“This petition was written to the APC national secretariat and it is expected that Nwoye should step aside, after all the former SGF did same over corruption allegations.
“There is no way he would be facing corruption allegations and instead of resigning, he is becoming a judge in his own case.”
“On the so-called panel he set up, I received a text message from
Ebubeagu, chairman of the panel, last Monday, asking me to appear on Tuesday unfailingly; you can imagine such invitation, without letter, without ample time, despite that I’m one of the major financiers of this party in Enugu State.
“I make bold to say that I’m not under any suspension; Ben Nwoye has no right and power to do so; he should clear himself of all the corruption allegations”, Nnadozie added.
DAILY POST reports that the Enugu APC on Sunday slammed a one-year suspension on five of its members, including Nnadozie, over alleged anti-party activities and deliberate violation of the party’s constitution.
Announcing the development to newsmen Sunday in Enugu during a press briefing, state chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said the affected members were found guilty by a committee set up by the state Executive committee, which was headed by Barrister Best Aroh.
“The committee after its through investigation, had recommended expulsion, but the leadership of the party decided to temper justice with mercy, and pegged their sanction to one year suspension each”, Nwoye hinted.
He said the suspended members were among the few elements in the party that were indisposed to the admission of new members into its fold, adding that they had also been conducting themselves in manners capable of bringing the party into disrepute.
According to Nwoye: “these few elements who have been causing problem in the party, always try to make up facts where they do not exit.
“Just recently, Nnadozie, and co, forwarded a frivolous petition to office of the Acting Secretary to the government of the federation SGF, calling for the sack of the state Exco.
“The suspended members were found guilty of violating sections of the party’s constitution; these elements are not happy with the inroad the party is making in the state.”
The suspension, he said is effective from June 15th 2017, stressing that those affected by the suspension were barred from participating in all activities of the APC during the period of their suspension.
Apart from Nnadozie, others said to have been suspended include Mr. Elija Ngene, from Enugu South council area, Barrister Valentine Ikpa, Barrister Ejike Ugwu from Igboetiti council area, Okenwa Onyekachi, Uzo -Uwani LGA and Rev. Jonas Onuora from Nkanu East.Read Full Story
