A book titled: â€œCHIEF OBAFEMI AWOLOWO (SAN), GCFR IN PUBLIC OFFICE IN NIGERIA, Volume 1,â€ written in honour and memory of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, will be presented to members of the public, on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, Nigeria by 11.30 a.m.
The book will serve as a guide to those who are already or aspiring to be in politics or public office in Nigeria.
The publishers-Litchfield Nigeria Limited, Prince Adetunji, Dr A. Aremu, Reverend F. Okothi, Mr S. O. Amu, and the launching committee, which had earlier scheduled the book for presentation on December 29, 2014, informed invited guests that January 29, 2015 was the new date.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo, SAN, GCFR, was the Federal President of the Action Group (AG), in the first republic and President of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), in the second republic.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo for eight years served as Head of Government and later Premier of Western Region of Nigeria, from 1951-59. He was leader of opposition, Federal House of Representatives from 1959-62, and Deputy Chairman, Federal Executive Council of Nigeria and Federal Commissioner (Ministry of Finance) from 1971-74.
Chief Awolowo in and out of office was outstanding in good character, hard work, discipline, efficiency, honesty, devotion and dedication.
In addition, he passed through many hurdles and challenges in life and with determination, courage, grace and abiding faith in God, he was victorious. Politicians and those in public office have a lot to learn from Chief Awolowoâ€™s life in order to have virile political parties and become outstanding public office holders, for the progress of the nation and in the overall interest of humanity.
