A Fulani herder, identified as Bonu Usmon on Monday died following machete cut injuries he sustained during an attack by a farmer, Friday Achalla at Sumoye area of Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered that the farmer was said to have challenged Usmon of grazing his cattle on his farm, thus causing destruction of crops.
A credible source informed our correspondent that a violent fight ensued between the duo as they allegedly attacked themselves with cutlasses, climaxing in deep machete cut injuries.
Usmon was subsequently found at Sumoye area of Ikire bleeding profusely from a deep machete cut on his left hand and was rushed to Catholic Hospital Of, Apomu for medical treatment, but died while receiving treatment due to excessive loss of blood.
His corpse was later deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
However, after an investigation by the Police, his assailant, Friday Achalla was arrested with a similar condition of injuries, where he was seeking medical intervention.
He alleged that he sustained the injuries when he challenged him for grazing his cattle on his farm thereby destroying his crops, saying he equally inflicted injuries on the deceased, who he said, attacked him with a cutlass.
When contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police Command, ASP Mustapha Katayeyanjue confirmed the incident, explaining that investigation was already in progress over the alleged murder.Read Full Story
