ABUJA – A pro-democracy group, the Northern Alternative Forum, NAF, has said that those criticising the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration are corruption syndicates who are bent on promoting lies to resist change being introduced by the regime.
The group said these critics are misguiding Nigerians so that things would continue the way they have been in the past when massive looting was the order of the day in Nigeria.
Speaking with journalists after a meeting of the forum in Abuja, the National Chairman NAF, Mallam Gidado Ibrahim, lambasted those criticising Buhari’s economic policies as well as security measures he is putting in place, describing them as saboteurs
“Buhari’s critics are saboteurs of a government that is working hard to clean the augean stable of the mess created by the previous administration,” he said,
According to Ibrahim, “Every bit of Buhari’s actions are geared towards wriggling out the country from the political, social and economic morass it had been enmeshed in throughout the 16 years of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, misrule.
He urged Nigerians to crosscheck properly the back ground of past leaders claiming to be concerned about the seeming plight of the people and ascertain whether by virtue of their antecedents, they are not working against the progress the current administration is making.
Ibrahim argued that it is either those claiming the Buhari administration has failed have forgotten so soon the massive looting that took place under the past administration or they are merely promoting the kind of propaganda that would help foster their own political interest ahead of 2019.
According to him, “The Northern Alternative Forum met today basically to review the current happenings in the polity, particularly as they border on certain remarks made by some groups and individuals, which are denigrating to the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Let me state here categorically that those criticising the Buhari administration are corruption syndicates who are bent on promoting lies to resist change so that things would continue the way they have been in the past when massive looting was the order of the day in Nigeria.
“President Buhari has done a lot to save the Nigerian economy, which was tottering towards an eclipse, thereby making it easy for Nigerians to have access to soft loans and other resources they need in their small and medium scale enterprises as well as farming.
“Sadly, a nest of propagandists, working closely with those who emptied the nation’s treasury are at it again, making it difficult for Nigerians to see the legacy the President is leaving behind for them under this administration. The good news, however, is that the game is over for this kind of cheap propaganda that is targeted at discrediting the good work President Buhari is currently doing to save the country”.
The NAF national chairman, however, urged Nigerians not to give up on the current administration, saying “no matter how deep truth is being suppressed, it will surely come to the surface.
“Most of the people making such noise do so because they lack morality and integrity. Go through their background and crosscheck their records properly if you must define their identities, but we can no longer accept a political propaganda that is geared towards discrediting a legitimate government and a president who has the interest of the great mass of Nigerians at heart.”Read Full Story
