Following the reported postponement of the Imo state, All Progressives Congress, APC, local government Congresses, scores of youths loyal to governor Rochas Okorocha, Saturday, stormed the residence of the National Organizing Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, demanding for the cancellation of the last Saturday’s congresses.
This is as the state Publicity Secretary, of APC, Nwabueze Oguchienti, has warned against any action that could thwart due process in handling the internal issues of the party.
The youths led by Mr. Jeff Nwaoha, who protested at the residence of Izunaso, located at the civic center in Owerri, after which they marched to the front of Imo government house, said they were not happy the outcome of Congresses and the involvement of Izunaso and others in the process.
According to Nwaoha, “What we are asking is that, the National working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, should fix a date for the Ward Congresses.
“We reject the last Saturday’s ward Congresses. There was no congress and we insist that Congess must hold for the party to move forward. We want the APC to investigate Izunaso and others on their involvement in the last Saturday’s Ward Congresses.
“We also commend President Mohammadu Buhari for his fight against corruption and we want him to know that we are solidily behind him.”
Reacting Oguchienti warned that, “Congresses are entirely party affairs and the youths should allow us manage the crisis and reposition the party to clinch victory in 2019 general election both at the state and federal level.”
